James Cropper PLC is a speciality papermaker and producer of high performance
fibrous materials, situated on the edge of the Lake District National
Park and on the River Kent, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest
(SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
- We recognise that our
operations have the potential to affect the environment. The Company
will meet all legal, regulatory and other requirements.
- We are committed
to continuing to improve our environmental performance, prevent pollution,
and to contain our impact on the local community.
- We shall continue
to invest in environmental improvements on a progressive basis, setting
objectives and targets in our Environmental Strategy.
- We shall
continue to meet the requirements of ISO 14001, the environmental management
standard, and maintain our certification to the standard.
- We shall control
and minimise waste, re-using and recycling where possible.
- We shall
reduce the specific use of energy (under the Paper Sector Climate Change
Agreement) and of water.
- We shall take all reasonable steps to ensure
that we purchase supplies from environmentally responsible sources,
including wood fibre procured from sustainable forests, thereby promoting
reliable forestry certification schemes such as FSC and PEFC.
- We shall
make our policy publicly available and maintain environmental information
on the Company Website (www.cropper.com).
